Minho is situated in the northeast of Portugal between the river Minho and Douro Litoral, a region dominated by the mountains of Peneda Gerês, to the east, bordering Spain, and going down the western seacoast through the valleys of many rivers. The district’s capital, Braga – named Bracara Augusta by the Romans -  is very rich in sacred art, religious heritage and It has beautiful legendary castles.
Guimarães is Portugal’s birthplace and its historical centre is now acknowledged as World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
